Karting HQ Takes on Manning Valley 6 Hour

Karting HQ took on its first 6 Hour Endurance event at Manning Valley last weekend.

Under the Guidance of seasoned pro Greg Cox, the team of Jonathon Marcusson Jamie Craig and Damien Meyer suited up to take on the gruelling 6-hour event.

Jonathon was the quickest in practice and was nominated to qualify the Praga Dark kart, however a mechanical issue meant he missed half of the 8-minute session. Without a tow he managed to put the team in 8th for the start.

Each driver was allocated a 40-minute stint before pitting for a driver change. Pit stops are 1 minute in length and each team must pit 9 times with 2 of those being fuel stops.

After Jonathon’s first stint it was Jamie’s first time back in the kart for a few months where he continued Jonathon’s gains and moved the kart into the top 3.

A safety kart saw Damien’s first time back in a kart after a lengthy absence cut short, but he managed to hold 3rd position.

Mother Nature had other plans unfortunately and a power outage caused the finish to be brought forward to 5.30pm as no lights were available to continue racing into the night.

This meant a further 2 pitstops needs to be performed so that all karts had performed the same pit stops before the chequered Flag.

Karting HQ lost some time during these pit stops and crossed the line a respectable 5th place for our first Attempt.

It has made us hungry to reach the podium and plans are in the works to run at the next event at Lithgow on the 27th of September.

Our sincere thanks to Greg Cox from Wildslide Motorsports, 4SKA NSW for a fantastic event and our drivers Jonathon Marcusson, Jamie Craig and Damien Meyer.
